2. National Gallery of Modern Art

This gallery was open to the public in the year 2009. This is the third such gallery in India. If you want to visit this palace, you can come here any time between 11 a.m to 6:30 p.m from Tuesday to Friday and 11 a.m to 8:00 p.m on Sunday and Saturday.

3. Tipu Sultan’s Palace and Fort

Tipu Sultan’s Palace and Fort was built by Chikkadeva Raya.  It was later reconstructed in Indo-Islamic architecture by Hyder Ali. The place is open to the public from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m

4. Lalbagh Botanical Garden

This garden was established in the year 1760 by Hyder Ali. It covers an area of 240 acres. The garden is named so because of the many red roses that bloom here throughout the year. You can find many different varieties of plants in the garden.

5. Cubbon Park

Cubbon’s Park is the best place for walkers, joggers and nature lovers in general.

Spread across 300 acres, Cubbon Park is the home to many exotic trees and animals. There are other places of interest inside the park such as Bal Bhavan play area and aquarium.

6. Vidana Soudha

One of the classic examples of neo-Dravidian architecture, Vidana Soudha,  accommodates the Legislative Chamber of Karnataka Government and many other government departments. Although it is not open for public visit, you can enjoy the beauty of this magnificent from outside. It is worth it.

7. Ulsoor Lake

Ulsoor Lake is spread across 125 acres in the north of M.G. Road. Except Wednesdays, the lake remains open for the public daily from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. There are boating facilities here. You also get a walking track around the lake. It is really a place worth your time.

These were some of the best tourist places to visit in the garden city of India. To reach these places, you can use buses, auto rickshaws, cabs or the Namma Metro. As I am writing this post, my mind drifts back to the school days when I was one of the few boys in the school who were constantly bullied and pushed around. Those were tough times. I was physically weak, though my mental ability was up to the standards. It was not easy coping with haters. In short, it was tyranny.

I say this because one day the bullies had crossed their limits. They pissed on me and made a fool of me in front of the whole class. That was the day I decided to fight back, not at a physical level but on a mental level. I decided to ignore them and go about with my work.

Though this didn’t stop them from getting at me, I was firm at my decision of not fighting back physically but being mentally strong and working harder at my studies.

Five years from the, when I was ready to join one of the best institutes in the country, those rowdies of my class were out of school and into the workforce. They were doing menial jobs as labors. They turned into drunkards and abused their life.

I am not saying that I am happy seeing them in that condition. I am just saying that they paid the price for their deeds.

I remember how these guys used to ride around in their father’s motorbikes and tease the other children in the village. I was one of their targets. They used to mock at my poverty.

As a child, I was not hurt by what they said. I was hurt only when they tied me up and hit me with their fists.

Raghuveer was just another kid around the block. From the time I knew him, he was one of the most notorious in his age group. After the unfortunate death of his parents, he was brought up by his elder sister and brother-in-law. As a teenager, Raghuveer’s mind was filled with a spirit of adventure. He would spend his day after school playing, swimming and running around with friends. He had a high spirit for athletic ventures. Only his academic performances were not high spirited. His grades portrayed the story of his misdoings in academics. This was one of the biggest concerns of his guardians.

I knew Raghuveer when I was a student myself in the same school. He was in the 8th grade when I finished my boards.
