One of the hardest things to acknowledge as we grow up is that we lose that sense of happiness we had as a child. While we still live a happy life and do things that bring joy to us and others, there is something about childhood days that can’t be compared to anything.
We are all clinged to the happy memories of our childhood. It is something that makes us happy in gloomy times. We start comparing our lives now with the ones we had in your childhood. There have been studies concerning the spectrum of happiness throughout a person’s life. In most of the studies, it has been found that a person remains the happiest in his childhood. The study has also shown the reasons for happiness.
In this post, we are going to cover some of the reasons in brief.
1. Ignorance of stress
As a child, we were not familiar with stress. We had fun with friends and family. We moved about carefree and there was hardly anything that bothered us or made us very upset. On the other hand, as an adult, we are constantly faced with stress. We bombard ourselves with unwanted news and keep our minds busy all the time. This makes past memories of childhood pleasant compared to the present reality.
2. Love for old things
There were days when I used to look for my old comic collection just so that I could take myself to the good old days. Like me, many people love old things. These are things that have some memories and stories associated with them. From old paraffin heaters to the rusted bicycle in the garage, I have a fascination for all kinds of old things. This is what makes childhood memories more pleasant. I even have a collection of old paraffin heaters to show off.
3. Closeness to immediate family
As we grow up, we become distant from our immediate families somehow. This results in less moments of happiness. Being together with the family makes us more happy and prosperous in life. This is another important reason for finding childhood memories to be pleasant. In fact, it is one of the lessons for life that we need to take note of. We have to connect with our immediate family and try to spend more time with them. This is one of the best things you can do for your happiness.
4. Finding happiness in little things
As grown-ups, we need big reasons to be happy. But, as children, we were happy with all the little things in life. We would spend our time playing with our favorite toys and forget about everything else. There was very less multi-tasking. We were more present in the now. This is what made our childhood more pleasant.
So, those were some of the things that made childhood memories more pleasant. Hope you found this helpful. Leave your thoughts in the comments.
