Best Places To Visit In Bangalore

Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka, is a place full of interesting architecture, culture and nature. If you have made a decision to come to the city, you have made a good decision. There are many tourist places to visit in Bangalore. In this post, I have listed some of the best tourist places you can visit in Bangalore.

1. Bangalore Palace

This magnificent palace was built in 1887 by Chamaraja Wodeyar. The design of this palace takes its inspiration from Windsor Castle in England. The palace has fortified towers, green lawns and stylish woodcarvings. The palace remains open from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

2. National Gallery of Modern Art

This gallery was open to the public in the year 2009. This is the third such gallery in India. If you want to visit this palace, you can come here any time between 11 a.m to 6:30 p.m from Tuesday to Friday and 11 a.m to 8:00 p.m on Sunday and Saturday.

3. Tipu Sultan’s Palace and Fort

Tipu Sultan’s Palace and Fort was built by Chikkadeva Raya.  It was later reconstructed in Indo-Islamic architecture by Hyder Ali. The place is open to the public from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m

4. Lalbagh Botanical Garden

This garden was established in the year 1760 by Hyder Ali. It covers an area of 240 acres. The garden is named so because of the many red roses that bloom here throughout the year. You can find many different varieties of plants in the garden.

5. Cubbon Park

Cubbon’s Park is the best place for walkers, joggers and nature lovers in general.

Spread across 300 acres, Cubbon Park is the home to many exotic trees and animals. There are other places of interest inside the park such as Bal Bhavan play area and aquarium.

6. Vidana Soudha

One of the classic examples of neo-Dravidian architecture, Vidana Soudha,  accommodates the Legislative Chamber of Karnataka Government and many other government departments. Although it is not open for public visit, you can enjoy the beauty of this magnificent from outside. It is worth it.

7. Ulsoor Lake

Ulsoor Lake is spread across 125 acres in the north of M.G. Road. Except Wednesdays, the lake remains open for the public daily from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. There are boating facilities here. You also get a walking track around the lake. It is really a place worth your time.

These were some of the best tourist places to visit in the garden city of India. To reach these places, you can use buses, auto rickshaws, cabs or the Namma Metro. For metro rides, it is good to know Bangalore metro timings. It can help you plan your day in advance. As far as I know, Bangalore metro timings are perfect for exploring the city.

You can reach most of the places mentioned above on metro.
